Tudor Square

Tudor Square was one of two themed areas added to Hersheypark in 1973 and is the only themed area located outside the fence line. (Note – ZooAmerica is inside Hersheypark’s fence though it has a separate entrance on Park Avenue.) Tudor Square was themed after the other significant historical tie to Central Pennsylvania – England’s Tudor era.  This was also part of the cultural exposition that Hersheypark used as its theme. Tudor Square was constructed over part of the Sunken Garden.

Buildings in Tudor Square were used for shops with candy and souvenirs. A restaurant was built – originally called Tudor Rose, currently called Hersheypark Place. In the 1973 season, the area began at a bridge connecting the Grand Concourse with Tudor Square, adjacent to the Tudor Rose restaurant. Tudor Square ended at the Main Gate of the park, opposite Rhineland. In following seasons, the Grand Concourse name was discontinued and Tudor Square was extended up to Tram Circle.

Tudor Square was combined with several other themed areas in 2014 to form Founder’s Way.

In 2018, Hersheypark submitted plans that included the construction of a new main gate at Tram Circle. These plans also showed that many, if not all, of the Tudor Square buildings will be removed for the new entrance area.
