Universal Mobility, Incorporated (UMI) operated from 1967 to 1989, constructing several notable monorail systems primarily in theme parks and exposition sites. Founded by Hank Pater, UMI faced financial difficulties, leading to its acquisition by Bombardier in 1989.

Habegger Maschinenfabrik AG, founded in 1943 in Switzerland, produced the minirail, notably featured at Expo64. The company collaborated with Von Roll and later entered North America’s monorail market through Constam Corporation. After several mergers and ownership changes, the original monorail division became part of Bombardier, while Willy Habegger reestablished his company focusing on lifting technologies.
