Hersheypark added a new named area to the park for the 1982 season – Spring Creek Hollow. This came about with the renovations to the Hollow with the removal of The Bug. The Bug was replaced by Wave Swinger, which is still in the park today.
Spring Creek Hollow was advertised as well as being printed in the souvenir map book printed in 1982. This was the first time that Hersheypark had actually named the hollow the hollow – prior to that it was a nickname for the area used by frequent visitors and employees.
The name only survived a few years, falling out of use after 1985. In 1990, the area was formally themed Comet Hollow. The area was renovated in 2012 when Skyrush was installed and renamed The Hollow.
