2020: The COVID-19 pandemic delays the opening of Hersheypark to July 1, 2020; this is the latest date Hersheypark has ever opened. The temporary main gate by The Claw, intended to be used in April and May, is retired. The new main gate of Hersheypark opens. The Carrousel is relocated to Chocolatetown. Candymonium, a hypercoaster, debuts the same day the park opens, July 1. Hersheypark discontinues printing paper maps. Many aspects of Hershey’s Chocolatetown are postponed and in some cases postponed indefinitely. The Chocolatier, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, and The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen are pushed back to the 2021 season. A separate entrance for guests staying at the official resorts of Hersheypark is never constructed. Hersheypark operates normally on Columbus Day Weekend for the first time.
2021: No new rides debut. The Chocolatier, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, and The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen open. Waverunner is retired during the summer season. Sidewinder is slated to be rethemed following the end of the year. This is the last year Hersheypark will host Hersheypark In The Dark.
2022: Jolly Rancher Remix replaces Sidewinder and Remix’d by Jolly Rancher is installed in front of the coaster. A new Halloween event at Hersheypark is teased. During this, another update is also teased – on July 31, Wildcat is retired. It is announced that it would be reworked by Rocky Mountain Coasters, Inc., into a new coaster called Wildcat’s Revenge. On September 17, Hersheypark Halloween and Hersheypark Dark Nights debuts. Dark Nights includes three scare zones (Darkstone’s Hollow, Midway of Misery, Valley of Fear) and four haunted houses (Creature Chaos, Haunted Coal Mine, The Descent, Twisted Carnevil. This is the first haunted house event at Hersheypark since Haunted Harvest in 2004. This is the last year Hersheypark Amphitheater is used by the park – the stage was used for Creature Chaos. Whip is retired at the end of the year.
2023: Wildcat’s Revenge debuts on June 2. Dark Nights is expanded and updated. Haunted Coal Mine is updated to Haunted Coal Mine: Curse of the Tommyknockers, while The Descent is updated to The Descent: Catacombs of Decay. Auntie Mortem’s Abattoir debuts in the former Whip structure while Creatures Uncaged replaces Creature Chaos.
2024: No new rides debut. Skyrush is updated with new restraints. Twizzlers Twisted Gravity is announced as the tallest S&S Screamin’ Swing slated to be built. The ride replaces Hersheypark Amphitheater. Dark Nights maturation continues with the debut of another haunted house – Estate of Evil, a new Scare Zone – Darkstone’s Hollow: The Battle for Spring Creek, and a new scare-free zone – Avenue of the Afterlife. The Descent: Catacombs of Decay is retired after the season. Skyview is retired at the end of the year.
2025: Twizzlers Twisted Gravity debuts as the tallest S&S Screamin’ Swing. Survey markers appear all around the Tidal Force area in The Boardwalk in May and June. For Dark Nights, Kill ‘n Fill Garage replaces The Descent: Catacombs of Decay. A new scare zone opens behind Music Box Theater – Path of Shadows: Coven’s Curse. Sandcastle Cove is dismantled in November. Hersheypark Christmas Candylane maps online and in the park tease a construction zone adjacent to Tidal Force.
